How a US-based health insurance provider cut agent onboarding from 16 weeks to 4

Scenario-based practice in a Health Cloud training sandbox, with accuracy scoring and cohort reporting.

By Saurabh Pangarkar

Business challenge

New member-service agents spent 16 weeks in training before they could support members on Health Cloud. They absorbed a great deal of product knowledge but had little hands-on practice applying it to real member requests — such as checking whether a member’s policy covered transportation. Ramp-up was slow, costly and inconsistent across cohorts.

The Zime solution

Focus on what matters We identified the 10 scenarios that make up the majority of real member requests.

Practise on realistic data Agents worked through each scenario in a Health Cloud training sandbox with realistic member records.

Score every step Each step was checked for accuracy, so agents and facilitators could see exactly where to improve.

Report by cohort Facilitators tracked readiness by batch and added new scenarios over time.

Implementation approach

Practice on real scenarios instead of slides and lectures

Measuring step-by-step accuracy, not attendance

Facilitators could add scenarios themselves as needs changed
